The Army Combat Training School (ACTS) hosted a highly enlightening lecture on land administration in Ghana as part of its ongoing Battalion Commanders’ Course (BCC).
The lecture, delivered by Surv. Timothy Anyidoho Esq. (Ag. Greater Accra Lands Officer), took place at Buchanan Hall, Whistler Barracks, Teshie, on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024.
The presentation, themed around key aspects of land management in Ghana, explored topics such as “Land Administration in Ghana,” “Land Acquisition Processes,” and “Land Documentation and Registration.”
Surv. Anyidoho also discussed the latest developments under the Land Act 2020 (Act 1036), focusing on sections 12, 38, and others, which seek to streamline land transactions and bring greater sanity to the land market.
The lecture, which targeted thirty senior officers of the ranks of Majors and Lieutenant Colonels (or their equivalents in the Navy and Air Force), emphasized practical case studies and scenarios to illustrate the complexities of land management in the country. This approach allowed participants to engage deeply with real-world challenges in land administration.
An engaging question-and-answer session followed the presentation, providing participants an opportunity to clarify key aspects of land administration and registration processes. The interactive nature of the session further enriched the learning experience for the participants.
Speaking on behalf of the course participants, Lt. Col Yaw Omari-Boateng expressed gratitude to the Lands Commission and commended Surv.Anyidoho and his team for the invaluable insights shared during the lecture. He noted that the knowledge gained would greatly benefit future battalion commanders in their roles, particularly in managing land-related issues in their areas of operation.
This collaboration between the military and the Lands Commission highlights the importance of equipping senior officers with a deeper understanding of land administration as part of their broader leadership and governance responsibilities.
