As part of ongoing efforts by the Commission to sensitize the public, the Lands Commission honoured the invitation of the Ga Central Municipal Assembly to educate its Honourable Assembly members on land issues and the relevant Acts governing them. The session aimed to equip the members with informed minds for their deliberations in their respective electoral areas and assembly work.
The event took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the GCMA Assembly Hall.
The Lands Commission was represented by Surv. Timothy Anyidoho, the Acting Regional Lands Officer of the Greater Accra Region delivered an insightful presentation, highlighting the pressing issue of registering properties acquired by the assembly. He emphasized the importance of adhering to sections 12-14 and 38 of the Land Act, which focuses on land registration processes. Additionally, he stressed the necessity of conducting due diligence before purchasing land and advised members to use their contact details for all documentation.
The session included a question-and-answer segment, allowing municipal officials to clarify concerns and discuss plans for future collaboration.
Hon. Emmanuel Nettey, the representative of the Assembly, expressed his profound gratitude to the Regional Lands Commission for honoring their invitation on short notice.
Hon. Ambrose Tsegah, the MCE of the Municipal, also praised the insights provided by Surv. Anyidoho and his team noted the value of the information shared and its potential impact on improving local land governance.
The discussions marked a proactive step toward addressing land-related issues within the Ga Central Municipality.
Present at the meeting were Rev. Mike Benson, chairman of the GAR Education Public Committee, and some staff from the Commission.
