The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources (Lands and Forestry) Hon. Akwasi Konadu led a high-powered delegation from Accra to visit the Ashanti Regional Lands Commission Office.
The one-day packed visit came off on Monday, July 15, 2024, and the rationale behind the visit was to familiarise himself with the management team of the Ashanti Regional Lands Commission, representatives of the various land sector agencies in the Ashanti Region, inspect the redevelopment project, the Client Service and Access Unit (CSAU), and the records room.
During the meeting at the ARLC premises, Hon. Konadu emphasized the importance of developing a software system to centralize the activities and projects of the ARLC, which would enhance service delivery and speed in the operations of the Commission.
He mentioned that a digitalized CSAU would ensure smoother operations. He also visited the new records unit of the ARLC to familiarize himself with its setup and address administrative issues. He stressed the need for the Commission to maintain firm policies to achieve its targets, praising their structured land administration and urging other regions to follow Ashanti’s example.
“Maintaining a well-structured land administration like Ashanti’s is crucial. Other regions should look to Ashanti as a model,” the minister commended.
Surv. Jones Ofori-Boadu, the Deputy Executive Secretary (Corporate Services) for the Commission, echoed the minister’s sentiments, encouraging the Commission to continue to have strong collaborations to work assiduously towards the transformation agenda of the Lands Commission.
The representatives from LUSPA and OASL also highlighted the importance of the minister’s visit, noting that it would aid in making informed and quality decisions for the Commission.
After a productive meeting, the team visited the redevelopment project to check the progress made so far.
Surv. Ofori-Boadu informed the team that the project is intended to motivate government workers by improving the facilities for LC staff.
Additionally, the Minister and Surv. Ofori-Boadu joined Mr. John Allotey, CEO of the Forestry Commission, for the inauguration of the Certificate in National Resources Management Programme at the Forestry Commission Training Centre (FCTC) and to celebrate the first cohorts of trainees of the FCTC.
